Description

Watercolour Painting entitled "Home 1942" Greenish brown painting on white watercolour paper depicts a corner of an internment camp barrack. On a makeshift wooden table in the right foreground is a pot sitting on a hotplate to the left is a cup and saucer and white highlighted wood table slats. Above hangs a bare white lightbulb suspended by an electrical cord which hangs down and is connected to the hotplate. The lightbulb casts circles of gray and white light and lights up the framing on the wall in the shape of a cross. At the left a gray colored cross hangs on diagonal wall planking above a white metal bedstead; part of the bed is visible and has two yellowish billows at the head. The artist has signed the back in pencil with the title his name and date with a copyright symbol "'Home 1942' Lee J. Wexler 1977 c" The painting was loosely inserted into a black plastic frame and plexiglass
