Beverages Exhibit Oral History Interview For more than 20 years, Lydia Lin and her husband have owned the Seattle Best Tea Store in the International District of Seattle. Through years of dedication and study Lydia has become an expert in the growing, harvesting, selection and brewing of tea. As she explains, tea is an important element of Chinese culture that has been part of the Chinese way of life for hundreds of years. Tea first developed as a medicine and that application continues today for Ms. Lin as she applies her knowledge of the medicinal qualities of tea to assist in the management of both physical and mental health. Tea is also a widely popular beverage and the careful selection and brewing of the tea is as important to Ms. Lin as its historical development, medicinal use and cultural value.
