Goon Dip, one of the most influential Chinese in the history of the Northwest, is pictured with wife and daughter in front of the Milwaukee Hotel, which he had built in the heart of Seattle's Chinatown in 1911. Goon was a labor contractor for the canneries and honorary Chinese consul to Washington State.

Description

Goon Dip, labor contractor stands outside the Milwaukee Hotel (International District, Seattle) in 1911 with his daughter Martha or Rosaline and his wife. He is dressed in formal western clothing with a long jacket and top hat. His daughter and wife wear traditional Chinese panel skirts with Chinese jackets and western lace-up shoes.
