Hiroshima Kenjinkai, New Year celebration

Kenjinkai are prefectural organizations, which originally helped support immigrants through financial and social means. The Hiroshima Kenjinkai was started in 1900 and is still currently active. By 1920, more than 280 families were part of the organization. Today, kenjinkai help provide scholarships and organize cultural outings and trips to ancestral homes.
