Silk crepe neckpiece with embroidery Neckpiece work as an inside collar with kimono. Cream silk crepe strip with satin stitch embroidery in two places. Embroidery is pink and cream bamboo leaves with couched gold thread. Bamboo stalks are satin stitched silver thread. The piece is not hemmed on the sides but is woven to the size for this particular use. Called "jubanerigae" in Japanese. Worn by a doctor's wife in the Meiji Period probably around 1860's.
