Black silk satin skullcap made of six sections meeting at the top with a small red topknot of braided silk cord. Lined in red cotton. A bank 1.75" wide runs around the circumference. Inside the band is a hatband 1.75" wide. On the deed of gift is a notation "Believe all from Manchuria purchased by navy officer Tom Sawyer (pre-WWII) and given to Louis Mayhew. Label gift 'In Memory of Louis Mayhew'".
