Description

Long-sleeved maroon Chinese(?) damask silk men's smoking jacket lined with quilted collar cufs and pocket facing. The jacket has a front opening no fasteners with left side overlapping the right side. The shawl collar and cuffs are done in quilted fabric with a diamond grid design. The top of the pockets are trimmed in the same quilted fabric. The damask silk fabric is designed with a sea upon which are Chinese junks (two-sailed sailboats with a flag on each of three masts) rocky outcrops with and without pine trees and tiny flocks of birds. The rocky outcrops have foliage nearby which resemble reeds. The jacket is lined in maroon silk satin which has two holes near the middle right-back. There is a loop on each side of the jacket at the waist made of the same fabric as the lining. Maroon silk satin belt (same fabric as lining) with 6" long purple fringe made of silk fiber attached at 7 points along the ends of the belt macramed. Belt dimensions: 75.5" x 2.25".
