Description

Long rectangular natural clor cotton textile with pink red and green woven pattering of supplementary weft called a pha chet. The design consists of rows of various designs with each row separated by three thin lines of either green redgreen or red green red. The first row consists of a red curved design. The second row consists of a green and pink design. The third row consists of green geometric designs. The fourth row consists of red geometric designs. The fifth row consists of a green " x" design with ared design on top. The sixth row consists of a green "s" design. The seventh row consists of a red geometric design. The eighth row consists of green and pink design resembling flowers. The middle section consists of a large pink center with red and green borders. The rows repeat on the other side of the cente There is self fringe on each end. This textile is used for dress on ceremonial occasions such as going to the temple by men. The textile is folded in two or three length-wise and then it is draped across the shoulder. For references see "Lan Na Textiles" by Yuen Lue Lao page 78.
