Description

Allegorical Silk Brocade Weaving of Nikko. Show 6 waterfalls near top (one is the famous Kegon Falls). Below is Toshogu Shrine which is the mausoleum of the Tokugawa Shogun Ieyasu. It is set on a mountainsidewith tall everygreen trees and maples. Weaving shows noblemen on the steps and samurai and his servant on the walk below. 15 stone lanterns in a row. Below and to the left is the red bridge which only the emperor may cross. At the bottom of the tapestry are 8 rectangles bordered in orange hsowing: phoenix birds anf flowers in brown yellow yellowish green and orange with gold threads. The background is khaki with a darker green in the evergreens and lighter green in the maple leaves. The roofs are gray and the buildings are orange with gold threads. Bridge is red with gold bosses and post tops.
