A: Plain unvarnished wood base with nail in the center. B and C: Red and white brocade zoris. Decorated with red and white embroidery thread. The white brocade is sandwiched between the red in the sole of the sandal. DEF: Strips of doll hair made out of black embroidery floss and secured with a black paper base that is glued and basted with black thread. G: Ceramic doll face and neck mold with yellow glaze. H: Red damask silk obi with white cotton batting sewn into the center with red thread. Obi is unfinished. I: Wood model of shamisen a long necked guitar-like stringed instrument. J: Unfinished doll face. The first layer is cotton gauze the second and third layers are white cotton and the final layer is a white crepe like material that has a face painted on it. It is all held together with a glue that hold the material in the shape of the mold. K: Partially completed doll with black base. The white cotton torso is wearing pink borcade zoris with orange straps and white tabi socks. The underslip is red and the kimono is two shades of blue with two shades of orange and green and white. The kimono was lined in pink fabric and the outside is decorated with a flower motif. The arms of the doll have a wire base and are covered in masking tape. The fingers have red fingernails. L: Kimono sleeves that are made out of the same fabric as K. It has a pink interlining and a red lining. M: Completed doll head. Face is very much lik J. The crepe fabric with the painted face may have been commercially produced for doll making hobbyists. The hair is made out of black embroidery floss and there is padding underneath it so that it will hold the traditional hairstyle. For decoration an orange tie dyed pad is exposed. It holds together the hair knot in the back. N and O: Two doll arms. The arms are made with a wire base that is covered with batting. The batting was covered with an off white cloth that was handsewn around the batting. The fingers are all individually sewn and there is masking tape covering the arm.
