This filipino doll represents the Mandayans from Southeastern Mindanao. Her traditional dress includes a decorated jacket, richly colored and beaded jewelry, and a skirt of dagmay woven on a backstrap loom by Mandayan women, from fibers of the native abaca plant. the intricate patterns are produced by first tie-dying the fibers and then weaving them.

Description

Mandayan doll in plastic box A: The cloth female doll has black yarn hair tan cloth face with embroidered eyes nose and mouth. She has earrings a beaded necklace red blouse with blue sleeves embroidered. there is a yellow fringe around the base of the blouse and the upper sleeves. She is wearing a woven skirt made of abaca fibers. She has on straw sandals and has metal ankle bangles. In her right hand is attached a woven basket and a cardstock tag explaining the doll and her clothing. (See Subject field). Made in the Philippines. B: Clear plastic box with lid on top. Taped lid.
