Maroon silk brocade pillbox hat with gilt thread Chinese character rosettes mirrors tassels and pompoms. Maroon silk brocade on top pleated in toward center. Also pleated around small hole in center is bluegreen brocade circle with lavender black white and light green embroidery. Around side of hat is wide band of black satin with narrow binding of pink and blue at top and pink at bottom. On black band is Chinese letter of gilt thread outlined in red thread. At each side is a rosette of yellow green and pink silk. Below rosettes dangling by a red thread is a mirror in brass inset with design of gilt thread looped around it from which hangs a green and pink tassel of fine silk thread. Bottom band of hat is black silk satin. Above wide band are 3 round and 2 hexagonal mirrors set in brass. In center is pink green and yellow pompom with bell. Smaller pink yellow and green pompom on proper left and yellow pompom on proper right. See round paper box with lid - 3 hat boxes in bad condition come with accession only one has been kept stored on HAT 3B.
