Shoe

One black red and white child's shoe of cotton fabric with embroidered decoration. The shoe is flat-soled probably pigskin sole sewn on with thick thread. Sole is 1/2" thick sides of which appear to have been painted with gilt. Shoe has clover-leaf motifs in blue and white along the sides and a stitched-on black toe section also embroidered with a butterfly-like form and/or flowers in white-couched-in-brown thread. Top of shoe has a border in red satin stitch; interior of cotton fabric. Hand-made with machine stitching on top red border. Top red border frayed. Whole shoe shows signs of wear with faded and fraying embroidery.
