Jacket (Hanten) and Belt (Obi) dark navy blue with white stripes. A: Hanten is made of mattress ticking twill woven cotton dark navy blue/white striped; collar is covered with solid black cotton; two loops at front at waist area; lined with solid white cotton. The center back has a split reenforced by a solid black cotton in a diamond shape. This type of costume is worn by an actor representing a working class man I.e. carpenter brick layer etc. A large stain on the lining and top of the left sleeve. The stitches are loose at seams on the front gassets and the collar cover. Note: Hanten is a short (half length of kimono) outer garment; has short sleeves; sometimes has a split in back. It is worn like an open front jacket. A narrow Obi (belt) is worn to close the front forming a natural pocket in which to carry items. B: A narrow Obi made of cotton fabric with stripes of baby blue white olive green on reverse and black and white stripes on outside; interfaced with a stiffening material. This particular obi is used on Hanten and tied in front excess edges are hanged or tucked around the belt. The interfacing is crumpled at tying areas. No visible stains.
